Flashback Friday: “Stand Tall” by Burton Cummings

This is another one of the first group of songs I can remember, of which there are many.  Nice little 1970’s style ballad that lets the vocals on the song shine out, not overpowered by the instruments accompanying the voice.

This song was one of two US top 40 hits for Burton outside of his work in the Canadian band “The Guess Who,” peaking at #10 back in 1976.  “You Saved My Soul” was his other US hit to date in 1981, peaking at #37.

Next week, another song that peaked in the 30’s of the top 40 back in 1984, but was one of my favorite songs from that time period.
