Anti-Imagination

I was noting over the weekend that the movie Vacation is being remade, and it got me wondering.

Why is it every great or semi-great movie from the past couple of generations has to be remade? I didn’t mind that the original Star Trek series got a brand new coat of paint with brand new actors and actresses, as that franchise is a big Hollywood cash cow. They keep remaking and rehashing Batman and Superman movies, and now there’s a Batman versus Superman flick coming out next year.

But to me, Vacation will always be Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo and random kids playing the off spring. Enough said. Hands off the classics, Hollyweird!

  1. There is nothing new under the sun so its said. The numerous remakes at the theatres is mind numbing. What ever happened to originality. It looks like Amy Schumer needs to save the day here.
