A fellow named Joaquin is gaining interest as this rapidly developing hurricane seems poised to strike in a few days. Or then again, it may not strike the Eastern US at all.
Only this raging beast of a storm seems to know what it will or can do. These “computer models” the most skilled meteorologists use these days have had a tough time with it so far. There are a lot of twists and turns in the track, so a move too soon or a move too slow changes the path and who gets it dramatically.
Yesterday the storm rapidly intensified, going from a minimal hurricane at 8am to a Category 3 at 11pm.
The only thing that looks to be certain is that Joaquin won’t hit Florida. Anywhere else seems to be fair game. Of course, I’m rooting for it to go out to sea and not harm anyone.
