Ambush Amid Anger

Most of the time I write on this blog, I know what to say and how to say it.

Today is not one of those days, I’m afraid.

There were protests in Dallas Thursday night after the death in Baton Rouge of Alton Sterling, and the death in a suburb of Minneapolis of Philando Castle, both at the hands of police officers who were white, both caught on tape.

The protests in Dallas turned deadly when a sniper started picking off police officers. Five officers were killed (not including the gunman, who was later killed), a few more officers and citizens wounded.

Other than the facts, I’m at a loss for words. I can only hope the violence on both sides is halted in the days ahead.
