Flashback: “Hit The Road Jack” by Suzi Quatro

Suzi is probably best known in the United States for her duet “Stumblin’ In” with Chris Norman from 1978, and playing the role of Leather Tuscadero in Happy Days.

I heard this track from 1974 listening to KNYE out of Parhump, Nevada on Tunein one morning recently. KNYE, once owned by talk show host Art Bell, is one of the more diverse pop/rock stations in the country, where you can hear something from the 50’s in one track, and a Kelly Clarkson song on the next track. Hearing Quatro cover the classic Ray Charles song made me wonder why it wasn’t a hit anywhere, thinking it had a kick-ass attitude to it that would have caught on somewhere, or so I thought.
