We can argue about how 9/11 happened for years and years to come. It is and will continue to be a historical mystery, like some of the other events of our time have become.
What I don’t dispute at all is those 3,000 or so who died that day didn’t ask for that. Their lives should forever be memorialized.
They will be reading off the names later this morning at the new World Trade Center, as they have done each year on this day since that terrible day.
Even typing that into my iPhone makes my eyes moist. It is America’s open wound.
