What’s His Story?

1971-1975: I was born at Sun Coast Hospital, Largo, Florida, on September 6, 1971. I learned to read by browsing TV Guide and following game shows, along with the usual suspect kiddie TV shows such as Sesame Street, Mister Rogers, and the Electric Company.

1976-1989: Attended Anona Elementary, Largo Middle School, Largo High School in Largo, Florida. At LHS, I did the public address announcing for football, soccer, and basketball games, served in the Spanish Honor Society, and was likewise on the Student/Principal’s Advisory Committee.

1989-1993: After a stint with a microfilm company as a document prepper, worked in radio as a board operator/engineer, occasionally getting behind the microphone. I began at WTAN at midnight on October 8, 1989, and worked one day shy of a year there. In late 1990, I worked simultaneously at Sun Radio Network and what was then WEND 760 AM in Brandon (with studios at the time also in Clearwater), which was at that point the flagship station for SRN. I worked there until released in May of 1993, then got a job at what was then 570 WHNZ (now at 1250 on the dial in a multi-station swap back in the late 90’s), which then was a daytime all-news station, with sports programming at night. I worked on the air weeknights and some weekend mornings, reading news headlines for the CBS Radio affiliated station.

1993-1994: I left WHNZ in September of 1993 and wound up back to WEND, which was now WBDN, had moved from Clearwater to Brandon – no longer part of the Sun Radio Network. When that job fell apart for me, I went back to SRN for the tail end of 1993 into 1994. In the fall of ’94, I moved to White Springs (just outside of Lake City) and was a producer at Chuck Harder’s People’s Radio Network for about a month.

1995-1996: It was back to SRN again in February 1995, staying there for seven months. It looked like I was going to get to do a talk show of my own in September of that year, but it was announced shortly thereafter that the network was going to fold on the night of October 31, 1995. I worked for Valentine Communications for a few months at the end of ’95 and the start of ’96, but I was then off to the Atlanta area for a fresh start.

1996-2000: After spending most of 1996 in Marietta, Georgia, I moved back to Largo in the late part of the year. By 1999, I was off to Charlotte, NC, living there just over a year. While I lived in Marietta and Charlotte, I also experimented living in Las Vegas in 1996 and again in 2000, but only lasted a few weeks there each time. During this time, I worked at Home Shopping Network in St. Petersburg and as a janitor at Walmart in Charlotte.

2000-2007: Lived at Imperial Palms Apartments in Largo and was evicted in 2007 for reasons unknown to this day. I was cited by management for the heresy of slamming a door in October 2006, with the management of the complex not even asking for my side of what happened. After several instances of disagreements there, such as one of their workers getting caught stealing a tenant’s pills in 2006, it was good to finally get out of that petty dictatorship and not deal with such crazy people.

2007-2019: After my embattled stay at Imperial life returned to normal, as I resided in Pinellas Park, Florida. In November of 2012, I began writing E-Books for Kindle. The first one was titled “Confessions Of A Telemarketer” which was my first creation. I’ve written four other books since, none of which peddled all that well for one reason or another.

2020: As COVID-19 began to rage, my mother’s health began to deteriorate, and she became my primary concern – being my only surviving parent with my father dying of cancer on January 28, 1991. To pass some of the time, I began a YouTube channel called Big Pauly’s World Of Sports Sims – where I play low-tech computer sports games and the occasional board game.

2021: Life took a bit of a downward turn. My mother continued to fall ill and grew less and less coherent after a fall in the kitchen on December 30, 2020. Another fall placed her in the hospital in late July of 2021, which led to yet another fall in early September. She’s been in either a nursing home or hospital since and was exposed to COVID, making a full recovery. Then, my health declined with the onset of diabetes and the removal of the right big toe and some bone from my left foot. I couldn’t continue to take care of my cat Harry while temporarily bound to a walker – so with the help of my landlord, he was placed up for adoption. On top of all of that, I had to move from Pinellas Park by year’s end after a spike in rent.

Early 2022: On December 30, 2021 – I moved over to Seminole with help from a childhood friend and classmate who chose to remain anonymous. After being deemed fit to walk normally again on January 4th, I took on being a pet parent again – taking in a little gal named Ella, another orange tabby who had just turned 2, from the Friends Of Strays in St. Petersburg on January 16th. Ella and I live together in a very spacious house – and the story goes on.
Later On In 2022: My childhood friend needed her Seminole home back as she was housing one of her houses there and needed an expert to live there. I was slated to go into the Homeless Empowerment Program in Clearwater along with Ella, but a diabetic foot ulcer led to spending seven and a half weeks in the hospital. Ella was taken care of by my friend and even got to go to Ocala when Hurricane Ian made its near miss in Tampa. Returning home on November 12, I packed and headed to HEP and spent the next three months there.

2023: I moved to Tampa in mid-February to be closer to my ailing mother, and Ella once again moved with me. Attempts to gain employment heightened my awareness of ongoing mental and emotional issues. Another friend from childhood offered to move me to Leesburg, which I agreed to, taking Ella along yet again. A fall that broke my nose on April 11th led to another problem cropping up – cataracts in both eyes. I also became a baptized Christian on April 30th and go to Bible Study groups every two weeks. My mother continued to deteriorate from dementia, leading to her death on November 12th. By year’s end, surgeries on both eyes removed my cataracts – and I could see clearly again.

2024: After burying my mother on the prior December 6th, I began my second year in Leesburg. I was in a foot cast over the holidays for my foot wounds, which began to improve in the late winter after getting orthopedic shoes. I saw a therapist on February 28th in Orlando, and she was convinced I have Asperger Syndrome.
