The Long Fall Of Big Pauly

What a crazy few weeks it’s been!

I’ve been doing daily posts on Facebook to cover what’s been happening on a daily basis. I’ve now been in a hospital or a rehab 36 out of 37 days, just having started my fourth stint – this time I’m at Advanced Rehab after finishing a stay at Morton Plant.

Orchid Cove was a disaster for me – found their care to be sub-standard. Left there against medical advice. Spent the next day playing with Ella – then went back in the system at Morton Plant.

I am not looking at further amputation, thank God. I just barely dodged that bullet. Now it’s just a matter of letting the IVs do their thing so I can back in the real world sometime in November.

An interesting time in an interesting world, I guess you could say.

Somewhere Around Halfway Home

My mother and I are now both in rehab. Only problem is our rehabs are 31 miles away from each other.

Despite a couple of attempts to get home and start health care there, I’m now at Orchid Cove in Clearwater, walking distance from the old Sunshine Mall that was demolished a couple of decades ago.

I wanted to fight Northside’s decision, but if I had and lost, it would be more expenses on my end. So we now have a medical profession that tells you what you want as opposed to giving you what you want. A sad commentary on today’s world, but them is the breaks.

If all goes well, I get out somewhere around November 2nd. Then I can get home with Ella, who will continue to be cared for in my absence.
